A Letter Came from Justin!!!

Yea! I finally got another letter! I know it's only been a week since I got the last one but I run to the mailbox everyday in hopes of one.

He's doing really good! He said this is the happiest he's been with a job decision in the past eight years. He was issued his bullet proof vest, weapons, and gear. They spend alot of classroom time learning about their weapons. They take them apart, clean them, and put them back together daily. He is with the 35th Engineer Battalion, 1st Engineer Brigade. Most of the guys in his platoon are Combat Engineers. He wanted to do that originally but didn't. He says he will probably change his MOS to that once his two years are up. He "sounded" great in his letter. He feels like he is where he should be. He goes to church every Sunday, too. He said he's lost some weight since his group has been in trouble for the one or two who are still resistant to being told what to do. He enjoys it though as he as always liked a good workout.

I'm guessing that his graduation will be during the first week of May. If anyone would like info, e-mail me and as soon as I have set dates, I'll pass on anything I know.

In his letter, he sent me the Soldier's Creed. It's one of the many passages they've had to memorize but I think it's his favorite. I would like to share it with all of you:

The Soldier's Creed:
I am an American Soldier.
I am a Warrior and a member of a team.
I serve the people of the United States and live the Army Values.
I will always place the mission first.
I will never accept defeat.
I will never quit.
I will never leave a fallen comrade.
I am disciplined, physically and mentally tough, trained, and proficient in my warrior tasks and drills.
I will always maintains my arms, my equipment, and myself.
I am an expert and I am a professional.
I stand ready to deploy, engage, and destroy the enemies of the United States of America in close combat.
I am a guardian of freedom and the American way of life.
I am an American Solider.

I hope you liked it! I'll write more later.
