Much to my surprise! I wasn't expecting a call until at least Sunday since Tuesday was the first official day of boot camp. I also received a second letter from him. Even though we only got to talk for about 36 seconds, he sounded good. It took me longer to read the letter than it did to speak to him. In our conversation he said that there was a lot of running, a lot of push ups, and a lot of yelling. That's about it!
In the letter he said he was tired of push ups and that was before boot camp even started. I can't imagine what he thinks about them now. He sat in the Sgt's office while a young kid begged and pleaded to be dismissed from the Army. This too was before they were assigned to their Drill Instructors. The Sgt listened to the kid's case and even though he was crying and shaking uncontrollably, he told him to walk out the door and be charged with an Article 15 or get back to his group. Every higher up that was there let the poor kid have it.
I haven't received an address for him yet but as soon as I do, I'll let you all know. I hope it's soon! I have a lot to tell him.
